What is the SwissCanSat Competition ?
Cansat is a competition organized by the European Space Agency (ESA)
that aims to challenge high school students to perform a scientific
and thechnological mission in a volume comparable to a soda can that
functions as a satellite. The can will contain a power supply,
communication system and various sensors such as a thermometer and
a barometer. The can will be launched via a aerostatic balloon to a
height of 1km and will have to perform its scientific and
technological mission during the flight to finally land safely with
a parachute. The team (maximum 6 people) that participates in the
challenge will have to completely design and build their canet.
In addition to building the canet, the team will have to communicate
on the progress of the project. In 2022, the university of applied
sciences and arts western switzerland (HES-so) has allowed for the
first time Swiss students to participate in the challenge.
For this competition the EMF has two teams of 6 people each, named ScanSat and EMF Gravitiy.
